Firefighter Station Wear is the first component of firefighting equipment – it is the fire department’s standard uniform that a firefighter will wear around the fire station. The purpose of the firefighter’s stationwear is to provide clothing that is comfortable for wear at the fire station, but will not obstruct the firefighter when donning turnout gear. Firefighter turnout gear or bunker gear is always to be worn over the stationwear garments during any call for service. The color of the station uniform is usually navy blue, but it may differ from fire department to department. For example, captains often might wear white shirts with brass collar insignia, while firefighters generally wear navy blue shirts.
