Shat-R-Shield Ironclad SDI Correctional LED Exit Sign

The Shat-R-Shield Ironclad SDI is a rugged LED exit sign designed for correctional, detention and institutional facilities. Its die-cast aluminum housing, 1/8-inch polycarbonate security faceplate, tamper-resistant access screws and secure mounting options help protect the sign from impact, unauthorized access and damage in demanding secure environments.

• Construction:
  • Die-cast aluminum housing with a minimum wall thickness of 0.08", with a 1/8" thick beveled-edge polycarbonate security cover over each stencil face
  • Long-life silicone gasket provides an IP66 wet-location rating and meets NEMA 4X requirements
  • Polycarbonate security faceplate provides impact resistance to the stencil face
  • Security cover and hinged faceplate are secured and locked with tamper-resistant stainless steel screws
  • Injection-molded internal cavity reflector provides ease of installation and maintenance with even legend illumination
  • Ceiling or end-wall mounting installations use an oversized canopy with fixing points over a larger surface area for more secure mounting
  • Canopy attaches to the sign with two die-cast 3/8" nipples and lock nuts and is suitable for conduit entry
  • Fine-grain brushed aluminum stencil face is standard; other finishes are available
  • Full-size 100-foot viewing distance with field-selectable Chevron indicators
  • Hidden knockout access points and universal mounting pattern

Correctional Exit Lighting for Secure Facilities

The Ironclad SDI Correctional Exit is designed for correctional, detention and institutional facilities where an exit sign may be exposed to impact, tampering or unauthorized access. Its rugged die-cast aluminum housing, polycarbonate security faceplate and tamper-resistant hardware provide added protection for demanding secure environments.

The SDI is available in single- or double-face configurations with red or green face colors, back-mount or canopy-mount configurations, and optional battery backup. EM models include self-diagnostic battery monitoring for facilities requiring emergency operation.

The SDI uses a high-intensity LED array with approximately 4 times the minimum UL 924 illumination requirement. Its IP66 wet-location rating and NEMA 4X construction make it suitable for demanding environments where protection from water and other environmental exposure is required.

Optional configurations include flashing, fire alarm interface, two-circuit input and damp-location options. The fixture is also available with other finishes beyond the standard fine-grain brushed aluminum stencil face.
